Welcome, Foolish Mortals, to DoomBuggies.com! Wes A. Wiens sent me this link with this comment: "I think it's safe of me to assume that the Haunted Mansion is one of your favorite Disneyland rides."
Yup, you're right Wes. We went on that ride twice when we were in Disneyland last May. I love it. Apparently I'm not the only one. The film is coming this year as well.

Aqua Creations
Check out Aqua Creations. It's the first underwater restaurant designed by Ayala Serfaty in Eilat, Israel.
Submerged 20 feet below sea level and 300 feet offshore at the bottom of Eilat bay, the restaurant is the new "must visit" place in this hip resort town at the southernmost tip of Israel.
Imagine a dreamy cave where you can experience the odd sensation of staring into the eyes of a flute fish while sipping a cocktail, or enjoying a gourmet meal. Would you dare to order the seafood special?

Koko the Gorilla
Carol and I watched a TV show about Koko the Gorilla the other night. Not only can Koko communicate wants needs and feelings through sign language, she paints as well. It's fairly hard to justify caging an animal who understands things and is able to communicate on so many levels. She truly is amazing.

Cross Cultural Etiquette
The world is fast becoming a smaller place. With the advent of the Internet and international travel being as fast and easy as it is we're able to meet and do business with other cultures like no other time in history. Sometimes we don't quite understand each other's etiquette practices and someone is unintentionally offended.
People are creating websites on cross-cultural communication to make dealing with others a little easier. For example, if you're traveling to Japan on business you may want to check out how-to-bow.com.

Doug and the Slugs
Carol and I went to see Doug and the Slugs last night. They were pretty good. Doug made fun of himself a lot for having put on a lot of weight and getting older, but he's still a great entertainer. He truned his adversity into a funny tune about, Viagra.

Anti-Canadian Rant in TX
Carol's sister lives and works in Dallas, TX. She was harrassed for being Canadian yesterday. Here's what she said:
I don't fully agree with the stance the Canadian government has taken in regards to Iraq. A lot of Canadians disagree with the method, but understand something had to be done with Hussein. A support role is about all Canada can offer anyway seeing as our military is so grossly underfunded.
If you're American who dislikes us for our war stance, think before you put us down. Just because some moronic politicians in Ottawa have done some boneheaded things of late doesn't mean we all think that way. Also, we have in a round about way made winning this war possible for you by providing support and protection in the Arabian Gulf via our naval ships. Finally, our peace keepers in Eastern Europe and Afghanistan have freed up your troops for a more focused operation in Iraq. Sounds like full support to me. The only difference is we have no ground troops there as they're all committed elsewhere.
"I was getting gas last night and some guy started pointing at the Canadian flag on my truck. He started yelling at me. Where's Canada in the war. You abandond us. I just smiled. Easy for him to say something but I don't see him over there either."

Battered Saddam statue withstands blast
Thu Apr 10, 4:55 AM ET
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - U.S. Marines have used explosives to try and topple a statue of Saddam Hussein in central Baghdad but the resilient likeness of the Iraqi strongman was still standing after the blast.
According to a CNN correspondent transmitting live pictures from the scene near a bridge on Thursday, they had tried in vain with a tank to uproot the giant monument, similar to one which was ripped down on Wednesday in front of a crowd of jubilant Iraqis.
The statue of Saddam, right arm raised aloft, was left with a gaping hole in its groin after the explosion.

Back to the moon...
Looks like the European Space Agency is planning to head back to the moon to map it. Perhaps one day there will be a Space 1999 like base on the moon. Although we're already a few years behind what that 1970's vintage TV sci-fi hit. It still has quite a cult following and you can even buy the first two years on DVD. I've seen them at Virgin Records here in Vancouver and just might pick them up.I loved the character of Commander Koenig, played by Martin Landau. He was tough as nails and always up for a scrap, either intellectually or physically. Maya, the shape shifter was pretty cool too. She was the only resident alien aboard Moonbase Alpha and could take the shape of any living thing in the universe. My favourite thing about the show, however, was the Eagle spacecraft (seen at left) they used to fly around in. Many a notepad was filled with my drawings of those fine (now I see quite phallic) ships.
Come on. I was just a kid.

Testing wbloggar
![]() Yup. It worked. Poor SARS kitty. | Geez! I hope this works. I'm crossing my fingers. I am trying out this new blogging software called w.bloggar. I was using an older version of it before but have upgraded to a new one with many more features. It seems like an extremely cool program and this way I can make good use of more HTML formatting like tables and other neat things. I really like it so far. Some of the other new features are text formatting and colour. It doesn't allow me to upload a pcture to the database like the nucleus program does though. I have to upload all pictures through FTP. If you can see the SARS Kitty on the left it worked like a hot damn. I think I'll use this program for posting things from now on. It seems like a whole new experience. Yippee! To quote one of my favourite characters in Robocop, "I like it!" (That actor went on to play Dr Romano on ER.) |

Photoshopping a picture is extremely easy. I use Photoshop all day everyday and could have done the same thing. It's kind of scary.
