More snow photos from NS

Big Al Mac sent me this link to photos sent in to Nova Scotia's Chronicle Herald newspaper by it's readers. We used to call the paper the Chronically Horrid, just because it sounded funny, not necessarily because it was.

Dad said that it took him three hours to clear the driveway after the recent storm. Normally it takes him 30 - 45 minutes. Dad also said that the accumulation of snow in the backyard through the winter is up to his hip!

At my uncle's home in Dartmouth, as access is through a back lane, going was so tough that they gave up after five hours of digging and decided to wait for a backhoe. There is so much clearing to be done that the city hasn't fully plowed the sidewalks yet and it's going on a week.

Again I'm glad I live in Vancouver.

Mike, I spoke to my Dad last night. He still did not have all of his driveway and area cleared of snow. He has been using a combination of snowblower and is small tractor with small bucket loader.
What would normaly take him 2.5 -4 hours to day, depending on the amout of snow, has taken him over 20 hours so far.
Aslo, he was at his camp the day before the storm started. They almost did not make it out. The camp has no runnig water, no power, no phone/ cell service. They had to radio someone to clear the road so they could leave. There was too much snow for their snowmobiles.
When he got home he could not get in his house. All the outside doors where blocked by snow. He had to use his garage door opener to open his garage door and climb over a 6 foot snow drift to get in the house!
I love snow. But. I do believe that Nova Scotia now has too much of the stuff. I am glad to be in SW Ontario with less then 1cm of snow on the ground.
