Largest quake in 40 years

An earthquake, being called the largest on Earth in 40 years, registering 8.9 on the Richter scale happened overnight off the west coast of Northern Sumatra. Tsunamis have killed an estimated 8000 people in Sri Lanka, Indonesia and surrounding areas.

Nasty shit this is. My best friend and his girlfriend were vacationing down there after a conference in India.
Thankfully they are safe, they felt the quake pretty hard but were not in the hardest hit of areas. No word when they will be able to return home.
