What a game!

I am so grateful that I got to watch the game and be a part of the crowd! Holy crapola! Team Canada, the underdogs, blanked the Russians and their scoring superstar Evgeni Malkin. I’ve never seen such a display of team play in my life. These boys, under the coaching genius of Brent Sutter, did a fantastic job and never said die. Congratulations guys, you deserve this win and the gold!

There are pictures and some video after the jump.

I was one of the first people at my seat for the game. I wondered if the Garage would fill up.

It filled up alright and was loud as hell. The family on the left of me was at almost every game. Pretty cool folks except for the son who was beating his blow up clappers in my ears the entire game. I wanted to club him with mine.

The guy on my right didn’t know shit about hockey and kept yelling for people to sit down when they were celebrating or cheering during times like this video (911kb wmv) of Canada’s first goal. Not to mention the fact he couldn’t sit still and when he stood up he put his smelly arse in my face.

The big celebration right after the final horn blew. Too cool!

After the game I went down to the club level to wait for Pauly who was coming from the pressbox. I was in the elevator with team Sweden – all huge blonde hush puppy wearing nordic types and shrimpy me looking like this. Too funny. I also saw the guys who gave out the gold medals, team Latvia leaving and the Finnish team in their bronze medals. Everyone was taller

Here’s what TSN says.
