Senators 2 – Canucks 1

The night started off right with another standing ovation for Trevor Linden. He was presented a limited edition lithograph and plaque for his surpassing Stan Smyl’s records for points, goals and games played in a Canucks uniform.

It was a tight game on Saturday night. Even the the Canucks were playing their second game in as many nights they played well and with passion. Midway through the third period, as the ‘Nucks were running out of gas a bad bounce put the puck on to the stick of Sens’ Captain, Daniel Alfredsson, (who I think looks like The Greatest American Hero) and into the net. After that the Senators put on a clinic about how to protect a one goal lead.

The Canucks players and fans sure did miss Bertuzzi’s presence on the ice. His big body and physical style will be impossible to replace, and if his suspension holds in the face of appeals, may just be the deciding factor that costs the Canucks a long playoff season.

Here is the official game recap.
