This is the unfortunate side of the political arena - TALK IS CHEAP. The most unfortunate aspect of this is that it remains at talk and extensive backpedaling. Jack Layton of the NDP is making ridiculous spending forecasts based on the fact that deep down inside, he knows he hasn't got a snowball's chance. There are lay people who don't recognize this and waste their vote accordingly. As for the devil I don't know, aka, Mr. Harper, I too am at a point where I feel I must go on a wing and a prayer in the hope that something different and positive may come of our corrupt political situation. His predecessor, Mr. Clarke, would have made a fine PM but his time was spent battling the charisma of the late great Mr. Trudeau and that left a permanent blemish on his credibility. On the opposite end of the spectrum was Mulroney who took it upon himself to sell this country to the US. I hope Mr. Harper leans too far in neither direction - and two terms could be dangerous. I'm willing to give the man four years. I'm also for a permanent election date being set in order to bookend the mandate. Most of all, I hope this election involves all Canadians eligable. It's very frustrating to turn on the returns at 7pm Pacific to find out that one Province (which I love dearly) has decided for the entire country. Here we go again.

^you're probably right... rah rah siss boom bah... baloney

I'm excited now, but if this group gets into power I can pretty much assure you that i'll be disappointed. I just want a change that includes some lower personal income tax as well as some government accountablity for spending.

Can you say pipe dream?

It's just a matter of time before i'm ranting abot how shitty it is under conservative rule and calling for a Canadian Ralph Nader. :)

I'm still singing my own song, the tune just happens to jibe (at the moment) with what the conservatives are saying.

Mike:
Being from the Dark Side In The South i can only humor your conservative sentiments but i agree that confusing rotten apples (Republicans) with pulpy oranges (Conservatives) goes both ways. However, as close as Canadian Conservatism gets to Libertarianism it still ain't it.

I suspect your wallet must have been breached if the New Conservative Mike is here to stay.

I think in the past I have respected your witty independent critical asides most of all as that was what attracted me to your blog. Also, I have had always had suspicions about party bi-line promoters. At best they can be cutting critics, but they can never achieve the creative power of an independant thinker.

If you have decided to sing someone else's song and you are a creative spirit I have faith you will tire quickley will be back in the fold soon enough.
I'll check in from time to time if you come back to the Jedi path.
