Inner Strength

Carol’s Co-worker Ada sent this:

If you can start the day without caffeine or pep pills,

If you can be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,

If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,

If you can eat the same food everyday and be grateful for it,

If you can understand when loved ones are too busy to give you time,

If you can overlook when people take things out on you when,

through no fault of yours, something goes wrong,

If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,

If you can face the world without lies and deceit,

If you can conquer tension without medical help,

If you can relax without liquor,

If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,

If you can do all these things,

Then you are probably the family dog.

Ice in Bridgewater NS (part 4)

Big Al Mac sent me a note with pictures of Bridgewater’s ice problems throughout the years. These pictures are property of Ripple Connection Promotions, a company run by Tim S. Conrad, a guy I knew growing up.

Mike,

I found some old and new pics of some of the ice problems in Bridgewater.

You may want to take a look.

Wrestlers From my Childhood!

My favourite wrestler was Killer Karl Krupp (pictured above threatening the delivery of his favourite move — The German Claw!). I used to go and watch Grand Prix Wrestling as a kid. The Macho Man and Leaping Lanny got their starts there. I remember seeing a match between Killer Karl Krupp and the Cuban Assassin in Bridgewater that when the Assassin had his nuts squished on the turnbuckle during an acrobatic maneuver. Sweeny’s Ambulance (now only Sweeny’s Funeral Home) had to come take him to the hospital.

Coincidentally, Rick, the new guy at work, used to hang out at a pizza joint in Moncton, New Brunswick called Sandro’s on Mountain RD in the mid-80’s. Apparently Killer Karl Krupp lived in an apartment above the pizza joint and the neighbourhood kids would see him all the time. They would ask him, “Hey you wanna wrestle?”. He would just grin. I guess Killer Karl did well for himself. LOL! Where is he now?

Here are some others that I fondly remember (and still fear meeting):

1. Cuban Assassin

2. BullDog Bob Brown

3. Leo Burke

4. Rick Martel

and last but not least

5. André the Giant
