5 Minutes to Midnight

Tick tock, tick tock. It’s now 5 minutes to midnight on the doomsday clock. Here’s an article about why.

Kind of unsettling, but strangely enough my fear of nuclear annihilation isn’t as great now as when I younger. In the 70’s and 80’s we lived with the constant threat of nuclear war between the USA and USSR as a result of the Cold War and arms race. Nothing happened then but it was fairly stressful to live with that kind of fear. Looking back on it, I’m not sure we were ever really that close to the end. Perhaps we all bought the hype, but savvier now we have a “prove it” attitude. Hopefully this jaded skepticism won’t be our downfall. Maybe it’s time to start paying attention again.
