Happy Canada Day and more Fire Mountain

First Happy Canada Day all. It’s Canada’s birthday! I worked all day. Following are some pictures of some behind the scenes stuff of the past two days. Making movies is fun stuff. Sometimes the action the camera doesn’t catch is just as entertaining.

On Thursday, as well as more helicopter stuff we had a visitor to set…

Me and Loki the parrot

He meows and talks a blue streak but was shy and didn’t say a word around all the new folks, but he went from person to person with out any argument and was very friendly and gentle. I’m not sure why my hair looks so stupid. It must have been the wind at the end of the runway…

More pictures after the jump.

Low budget = AD office in a Corolla

Poor Dave has to whip up his Call Sheets in his little car. No wonder he’s always flipping people off.

Used for a scene during the volcano eruption

I got to be involved in setting up the the SFX shot that involved a camper trailer, a stuntman, expesive candy glass and two compressed air cannons filled with more glass. It turned out well but the cannons were too powerful and blew the real windows out of the back of the camper. Whoops. Thumbs up from the stuntman. All was well.

Jail cells in today’s location

We were at the Squamish Fire Department’s firehall today. The SFD shared a building with the RCMP in a past life and the cells are still there. The lights didn’t work in the back hallway and the energy felt very dark back there. I took this shot with the camera set at a high speed. It portrays the creepiness pretty well.

Chris… I laughed way too hard at this

Chris from ‘Set Dec’ had this weird little animated and talking LCD advert in his pocket. He was playing it at odd intervals througout the afternoon today. I thought you’d enjoy this video I shot with my camera. Enjoy: steamer.avi (4.93 mb file) Just turn the handle!
