L.A. Agency’s Link to Canada Angers ACTRA

The Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA) has stated that it is “incensed to hear that Telefilm Canada [the Canadian government’s film and TV financier] is using taxpayer’s money to buy Hollywood talent.”

As a Canadian actor I understand this. Spend taxpayer dollars on talent at home. Isn’t there a largere problem here though? Why not amalgamate ACTRA with it’s US counterpart SAG creating one large union that spans borders. That way we Canadians can easier get the the US market where the real money is in film. In a perfect world maybe. Will it happen? I doubt it.
