More on WTC Tragedy

[imported post from my old blog at moosh.org]

So much has happened over the past few days. The world is still reeling from the horrifying events of September 11, 2001. Still no one has owned up to these cowardly actions. I feel profoundly sad by the huge loss of life. The numbers that are still coming out of New York alone are staggering – 5100+ as of this writing. The Stock Markets in New York opened today (not doing to well right off the hop), and Major League Baseball is playing a few games this evening As much as people are attempting to “get back to normal” I can’t help but get the feeling that it’s going to take a long time before anything is “normal” at all.

There is a great site [not anymore] on the Internet dedicated to the Unity Ribbon seen at the right and in the site menu. The hope is that this ribbon will be displayed on the Internet and worn by people as a symbol of unity, not only in mourning for those taken from the world so suddenly, but for the hope that something like this never happens again. I didn’t personally know anyone who perished in the attacks (at least not so far), but know people who have lost frieds and/or family. This affects us all in one way or another.

I know I’m Canadian, but I will proudly display this symbol on this site. I don’t think it has as much to do with a nationality as it does away of life. That way of life is important to all of us in the “free-world”.
