CBC News: Libya to lead UN human rights watchdog

Yeah that’s right. When I think of human rights Libya is the first country that comes to mind. Perhsps electing the Libyan Ambassador to the post was the UN’s way of telling Libya they need to police themselves on this issue. Didn’t any of these people see Serpico? There always has to be an outside entity for objectivity’s sake.

As Lord Acton said in a letter to Bishop Mandell Creighton, 1887, “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men”. Put that it your darn pipe and smoke it.
