Scoop: LotR – The Two Towers on DVD

It pays to have friends. Melissa here at work, an avid Lord of the Rings fan, got a copy of The Two Towers DVD that’s being given to members of the The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for Oscar consideration. She was nice enough to lend it to us, so while others are still flocking to the cinemas and paying through the nose to view the flick we watched in private. Thanks Melissa!

Carol and myself sat in the relative comfort of our living room soaking in the sights and sounds, pausing the movie for pee breaks and watching scenes over again at our leisure.

The film started with a warning that made the whole experience kind of surreal:



Being the movie fan and aspiring movie maker that I am, perhaps one day I’ll be able to watch all films up for Oscar consideration and vote on them. Dare to dream.

Among other great parts of the experience was the fact that every ten minutes the phrase, “For Your Consideration” faded in stayed for 20 seconds or so and then faded out again. , played by John Rhys-Davies, with the subtitle. I got acquainted John Rhys-Davies when he was filming Sliders here in Vancouver. We met when I working as a security guard at his residence here in Vancouver. He even gave me gift of $50 US for Christmas in 1996. Nice!
