The Pianist

What an amazing film. Carol and I saw The Pianist, a Roman Polanski film, on Saturday. No wonder it’s been nominated for a Best Movie Oscar. I was blown away and moved to tears a number of times.

A brilliant pianist, a Polish Jew, witnesses the restrictions Nazis place on Jews in the Polish capital, from restricted access to the building of the Warsaw ghetto. As his family is rounded up to be shipped off to the Nazi labor camps, he escapes deportation and eludes capture by living in the ruins of Warsaw.

The Pianist himself, played by Adrien Brody has been nominated (and rightly so) for Best Actor. This is one to watch.
