Designing a website that takes into account the human element requires both an understanding of our nature as well as our physiological limitations. Usable websites incorporate human tendencies and limitation into its overall design. The questions below are meant to address some of the more important human factors concerns in the design and building of usable websites.

In keeping with Rememberance day this Monday past here’s a bit about our family history in World War One. The National Archives of Canada have kept great records (of course). This is the information about my grandfather’s joining the armed forces and fight in WW1 in 1916. He claimed to be 18 but was only 16. I guess he really wanted to go.

Here’s the front and back of his attestation form. Look at the date on the front. What a big fibber. He made it through, working as a medic in the trenches and on the killing fields of Europe. He later became a dentist, married my grandmother, Ruby, and had four children the youngest of which is Dad.

I think I’ve posted this before. Lance sent it to me this morning, so here it is. Here’s mine (for August 5, 1969):
