A little snow…

Thanks to Big Al and Pauly for sending me these pictures of people digging out of what looks to be at least 15 feet (yes feet) of snow on the Labrador Highway. Next time I whine about the rain in Vancouver I’ll remember these photos:

And a series of people digging out their car:

Here’s a flash movie of a bird just slaughtering the Scorpion’s tune Still Loving You.

And I ate his liver…

If you haven’t heard by now, recently a German man named Armin Meiwes killed and ate another man whom he met on the Internet. Bernd Juergen Brandes wanted to die and was actually willing to be eaten. Very odd. Odder still was that the courts couldn’t find anything to charge this guy with as his victim wasn’t a victim at all, but rather a participant. One statement said, “The accused supposedly first cut off the penis of the victim by mutual agreement because they wanted to eat it together.”

There’s been lots of interest in this very strange case. A Chicago based ‘Murder Metal’ band called Macabre even wrote a song about it (check put their ode to the Hillside Stranglers right here [1.12mb MP3]). Here are the lyrics to The Wustenfeld Man Eater (Armin Meiwes):

In the German internet classifieds

was an ad for a man’s demise

then after death he’d eat his prize

a cannibal in modern times

Then to his ad a man replied

agreed to what was advertised

his penis was cut off while still alive

he ate half his own penis before he died

Officials finally tried and have convicted Meiwes of manslaughter sentencing him to eight and a half years in the slammer.

Super Model Meat Sports

Check out this movie that Jackson sent. The link leads to a webpage with a 4.53mb quicktime file. Nothing wrong with a video of hot chicks playing with meat.

In Jackson’s words, “Daddy like!”

Microsoft to take over MikeRoweSoft.com

Mike Rowe has sold out for an XBox (plus MCSE training and a few other gifts). Good golly, all that hype and all you get is a $250 gaming machine and courses that give you a certification whose letters should mean Must Call Someone Else. Common Billy, toss me a cool million or twenty.

This was sent to me by Tyler the semi-evil sys admin who just happens to be an MCSE himself.

Shake up at the VPD

Two officers fired, four demoted for assaults

VPD Chief Jamie Graham apologizes to public.

On the VPD Media Liaison Unit’s site there’s a timeline of what happened, a video [16.6mb WMV] of Chief Graham’s statement (as well as a transcript [PDF]), a written apology [PDF] by the police officers for the incident, and a 100 page document containing the Chief’s Disposition [PDF] in regards to the beatings in Stanley Park.

Interesting reading and a good beginning. However, I think a lot more than this needs to take place before people are going to have any faith in the Vancouver City Police again. They’ve gained quite the rep for being a little over the top physically on many occasions (remember the GNR riot and the other cop related booboos of late?) and there are also hints of corruption deep within the ranks. Let’s have a third party take a peek, not another police or government body, at what’s what.

Where the hell is Frank Serpico when we need him?

Whirlyball

Looks like me and some friends need to take a trip to Seattle for a game Whirlyball. It’s a mish-mash of jai alai, basketball and bumpercars. Kind of an intersting concept, but I wonder if the bumper cars stop dead after a minute and a half like at the PNE.
